The Green Built Hotel - North America's First Passive Haus Hotel

Orovita Passive Haus Hotel - A North American First!
The ability to construct an environmentally friendly hotel that costs less than conventional construction has become a reality.  As well as being able to build the entire structure in less time than conventional methods.

A Passive House design is being considered for the heating and cooling system, which would eliminate the traditional HVAC system.  This type of design would be the first one implemented in a hotel in the United States.

With the goal of bringing a new hotel to town, Oroville can promote and attract more people to come and conduct business as well as enjoy what the area has to offer.  The hotel will also ensure that Oroville reaps the benefit of tourism that directly supports local businesses.

The land for the hotel has been secured and is located at the south end of the city limits, with frontage on and access from Highway 97.  The zoning is C2 which is allows for outright use for a hotel.

"According to Steve Morberg, the hotel developer, states that hotel will be built in phases, and will utilize Passive House standards, “which does not rely on a normal central heating and cooling system, but achieves high energy efficiency through extensive insulation, airtight construction that eliminates heat loss, and a high-tech heat-recovery and ventilation system that maintains good air quality. We are excited to bring a project like this to Oroville.”

Currently, there are only a few European hotels that were built with Passive House standards. The hotel built in Oroville will be the first of its kind in North America."
